Peace. Provision. Forgiveness. These are basic human needs. Yet who can truly be relied upon to deliver them?

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul shows how these can never come to us through political, philosophical, mystical or religious systems. They only come through Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God.

Mark Meynell unpacks Colossians and Philemon, verse by verse in this expository guide which can be used as a daily devotional or for studying this letter in your church. It will excite ordinary Christians in their faith, equip teachers and preachers in their work, and help us all to root our confidence in the right place.

Another excellent For You book

This book was full of nuggets of wisdom and insight that challenged and encouraged me in equal measure. Regarding our salvation through the work of Christ at Calvary: 'There is nothing to add. Indeed, as it is sometimes said, to add to Jesus, is to subtract from Jesus. He has done it all.' His teaching on chapter 3 of Colossians was very rich, reminding us that our identity is in Christ, not what we do. Meynell says: 'We can summarise Paul's teaching as "Be who you are" [alive in Christ]. It is not, "Do this or else".' And there are plenty more nuggets where they came from. So, if you want to understand individual books of the Bible more in a desire to know more of God, then these books are excellent at opening up scripture and revealing more of the wonderful character of God

Great guide to Colossians

We used this as the supporting commentary for our church home group. Straightforward explanatory text without getting bogged down in controversy and very gospel centred. Helpful questions for reflection.
