Prequel fun for Green Ember fans!

The Old Natalia books have a different feel to the original ‘Green Ember’ series – and unlike S.D. Smith’s other spin off series, The Last Archer, they can be read either before or after reading the main quadrilogy. They fill in the blanks surrounding the history of Natalia alluded to in the longer books, and tell the story of Whitsun Mariner, his son Prince Lander, and their battle to unite rabbitkind in the face of their enemy, the dragons. They are shorter books, and so some of the characters feel a little less well rounded, but this makes them great reads for younger children who can cope with all the swashbuckling, sword wielding action and bravery of the Green Ember books but find them too long to read independently. With lots of focus on honour, what true leadership looks like, courage in the face of overwhelming odds, and doing the right thing no matter what the cost, they are books that will leave children more dangerous to the darkness!
