Rich Devotions on God's Love and Holiness

I found Hosea: His Redeeming Love by David Gibb to be a refreshing devotional. Too often devotional books can feel light or sentimental, but these readings were thoughtful, biblical, and engaging. One of the book's strengths is how well it balances God's love with his holiness and righteousness. Hosea reveals a God who loves his people passionately, yet is not indifferent to sin. The devotions repeatedly show that God's love is not softness; he is both merciful and just. I especially appreciated the emphasis that God's anger against sin arises from his love and that both God's justice and mercy meet perfectly at the cross of Christ. The book also contains helpful challenges about genuine repentance, obedience, and avoiding mere outward religion.
