John is the new minister at St Agnes–by–the–Abattoir and is overwhelmed with the amount of things going on: playgroups, men’s meetings and endless Bible study groups. Yet when he asks how many people have been converted in the last year, there is an embarrassed silence… what is going wrong.

Bruce and Alison have resisted the temptation to bury themselves in church activities and have actively cultivated their non–Christian friendships. They sat down after a recent dinner party and asked themselves, ‘Are we really getting anywhere with these people?’.
