Leadership. It's one of the most discussed topics in our world and our churches today. All of us long to find better leaders, or to be better leaders. Yet putting our fingers on the essence of Christian leadership and what God expects in leaders can seem like an elusive concept.

In this series of 9 studies on the Old Testament book of 1 Samuel, we return to the earliest days of kingship in Israel to discover what God demands from the leaders of his people, and how his expectations are often radically different from those of the world around us. More importantly, we learn how Israel's early experiment with kingship ultimately paved the way for Jesus Christ, the ultimate king and leader of God's people.
