How do you share the gospel with those who believe it’s their mandate to evangelise to you?

Mormons are eager to talk about their faith with anyone who will listen, so encounters with them are a great opportunity to discuss what the Bible really says. But if we’re not familiar with their beliefs, it can feel safer to avoid these conversations, and we can miss out on the chance to share the true gospel with them.

Tony Brown spends his time conversing with and evangelising to those caught in New Religious Movements. In this thorough guide to sharing the gospel with a Mormon, he lays out the foundations of the Mormon faith and explains how their doctrines are not reconcilable with the Bible, despite their claims. He does so with a great love for Mormons, concluding that they are a lost people who need to hear the true gospel.

If you’ve ever wondered how to share the gospel with a Mormon, then this book will give you the practical knowledge you need to start those conversations and point Mormons to the Jesus of the Bible.

"I have been privileged to work in ministry with Tony in recent years. He has a great love for the Lord and is gifted with a remarkable facility for explanation. He is also a seasoned evangelist and brings to this book his own experience in witnessing to Mormons. As a former Mormon apologist, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wishing to better understand and witness to Mormons."

Michael Thomas, Chairman, Reachout Trust

"A really helpful guide that will not only help you better understand what Mormons believe but will practically equip you to share the good news with them. Buy it. Read it. Put it into practice!"

Michael Ots, Evangelist and Author

"The members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are precious souls who need the biblical gospel and biblical Jesus. In Sharing the Gospel with a Mormon, Tony Brown gives evangelical Christians a concise introduction to a faith that has sent many to eternal hell."

Dr. Ed Romine, Director of Education at The First Baptist Church of Provo, Utah; itinerant preacher; evangelist

Sharing the Gospel with a Mormon

What Mormons believe and what Christians believe are vastly different, but many Christians can feel ill equipped to meaningfully engage with Mormons and to defend their faith. Tony Brown has written this helpful book which outlines the basics of the Mormon faith and how their doctrine cannot be reconciled with the Bible. The thing I like about this book is that Tony encourages you to engage with Mormons by asking helpful questions to get them to think critically about what they believe and why.

A great mini introduction to the LDS Church

This pocket-sized guide is the ideal introduction to what Mormons believe and shows how we can approach them when evangelising.

Along with familiarising the reader with the basics of the Mormon faith, there is advice and guidance on how to approach them to share the gospel, ideas on what questions to ask to spark conversation and general tips scattered through out the book.

Part of a series of handy guides to sharing the gospel, this book met every expectation and is the perfect size to carry along when evangelising. Easy enough for even new believers to follow along, this title is accessible and well laid out.

I look forward to the next instalment in these ‘sharing the gospel’ series!

Sharing The Gospel With a Mormon

A succinct introduction to what our Mormon friends believe and helpful suggestions for talking about Jesus.

Sharing the Gospel With a Mormon

Mormon missionaries are a common sight in Britain. Mormon men aged between 18 and 25 are strongly encouraged to spend two years on mission. This book by Tony Brown is an excellent guide for how to share the Gospel with Mormons. One thing to be aware of is that Mormons use the same language as evangelicals but often mean something quite different. The Jesus of Mormonism is very different from the Jesus of the Bible. Mormons deny Jesus was God from eternity. Who they call Heavenly Father was once a man who attained divinity. This blasphemous claim is at the heart of the Mormon Plan of Salvation whereby anyone can work towards divinity. Salvation through grace by faith in Jesus Christ is an alien concept. Mormons rely on feelings to buttress their claims, especially when reading the Book or Mormon. However, a good question to ask a Mormon missionary is why there no maps in it. The reason is that it is not based on any known historical locations. This contrasts with the Bible which is clearly based on real historic locations. The truth of God’s word does not depend on our feelings but on the truth of Jesus Christ revealed as the Son of God. Furthermore, the Book of Mormon is not even the most important Mormon book. The ban on alcohol, tea and coffee comes from the Word of Wisdom. Ultimately, Mormonism is a works–based religion and is open to the doubt of whether good enough is really good enough. Christians know that no–one will be justified by the works of the law and salvation is only to be found in the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ crucified. Our Mormon friends desperately need to hear this message. The book is full of helpful questions to ask Mormons to get them to think about the problems their religion has. If you come into contact with Mormons, why not arrange to meet them, read this book in advance and see where the conversation goes as you seek to share the real Jesus with them.
