Refreshingly simple!

This book is one of the more straightforward Easter giveaway books I've read, and that is what I love about it! It does start off talking about death as a serious thing, and then thinks about Jesus in terms of being the greatest hero of all time, all in the first couple of chapters. The majority of the book is just running through what happened in history when Jesus lived and died. The author writes humorously, but also with awe at the reality of Jesus rising from the dead and how God revealed himself through Jesus' earthly ministry. This one would be great for those who think miracles and Jesus' resurrection didn't really happen!

What an encouraging little book! In little over half an hour, Paul Williams will come alongside you, explain the gospel to you and make you wonder why you haven’t accepted Jesus sooner. ‘Easter: The Greatest News’ is for people who are hurting, people who are sceptical, people who have never heard of Jesus, and people who think Christians are a bunch of straight–laced weirdos. No prior knowledge of the church or the Bible is necessary – Paul explains everything in easy terms. But the truth he’s offering is wonderful! Jesus came, he showed himself to be God, he loved us enough to die on the cross and he came back to life again. This book seeks to share with the reader the uplifting joy of Jesus’ return to life, and the generosity of his death for us. It is conversational and brief, but also friendly and open. It acknowledges the pain the coronavirus pandemic has caused, but in a way that will age well and which allows God’s love the shine through. I was particularly struck by the section on ‘living forever’, which makes a very important point about the life we receive from Jesus being like our ‘best day ever’, not just more of the same daily grind! Perfect to have on hand to share the truth of Easter with friends and neighbours.
