We all need encouragement however young or old we are. Encouragement is a vital ingredient in spiritual growth. Roger Carswell explains how encouragement is the leading theme in Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians. In this very helpful book, he shows how we can encourage each other as Christians to grow and mature in the Christian life, as we look forward to the certainty of Jesus’ second coming.

‘These pages are filled with spiritual nuggets.’ ~ Warren W. Wiersbe

Growing through Encouragement

This book presents an introduction to Paul's first letter to the church at Thessalonica. Roger Carswell shows us from Acts 17 how the church begun, and then from a study of the five chapters of 1 Thessalonians, he shows how the church was established, grew and matured. We see how the church was encouraged in the midst of difficult days to walk obediently before the Lord. Carswell then goes on to show how Christians should behave towards other Christians in the church, and also how they should behave in society today in the light of events such as the second coming of Christ. The book is very clear, simple to understand, with many helpful illustrations. Throughout, we see that Paul's encouragement for the church at Thessalonica is also an encouragement for the church in the present day. Christians should find themselves encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, and also their relationship with each other. I would recommend other books on 1 Thessalonians if you want a more in-depth study. However, this book is a helpful introduction to one of Paul's earliest letters. It can be read as part of the Christian's daily devotions.
