Engaging with Muslims: Understanding Their World; Sharing Good News by John Klaassen was both personally meaningful and practically helpful for me. Having spent time in a Muslim country and having close relationships with people from Muslim backgrounds, this book resonated on more than just an intellectual level. It’s short, simple, and memorable—full of practical ways to love Muslims in both word and deed. I especially appreciated the reflection questions at the end of each chapter and the suggested Bible stories to share. Klaassen is a real encouragement, reminding readers that you don’t need to be an expert on Islam to be a faithful witness—you simply need to know Jesus and His Word. While the book doesn’t cover everything, it’s not trying to. It serves as a helpful introduction, grounded in Klaassen’s years of experience in North Africa. He emphasises the diversity within the Muslim world and consistently points readers away from argument and toward friendship—bridging the gap with grace and truth. Klaassen keeps the focus where it belongs: on exalting Jesus in evangelism. He offers different approaches while thoughtfully sharing his own convictions, always with compassion. The included resource list is also a great bonus for further study. Overall, this is an engaging and motivating starter guide. It encourages believers not to fear Muslims, but to love them well and faithfully share the gospel.
