Self‐harm is a difficult and awkward subject. More people do it than you would realise, but very few people talk about it.

This book examines what causes people to hurt themselves and what God thinks of it all. It tries to shine a light on why this is such a destructive coping mechanism and how Jesus can bring healing. It gives helpful and practical advice for both self‐harmers and those who want to support them.

What Does the Bible Really Say About... Self Harm?

This is a very helpful introduction and overview of the topic of self-harm. It covers what self harm is, why people might self harm, how to help (others) and how to help (ourselves). It is very easy to read, and would be accessible for a teenager or adult in terms of language and amount of text. There are summary points in each chapter which makes it easy to stay focussed. It seemed to be aimed at Christians struggling with self-harm as the author presumes the harmer is a child of God. However, the understanding of self-harm is still helpful to a 'helper' if the harmer does not yet know God. It is compassionately written and the author herself states she has personal experience so it doesn't feel 'preachy'. As it is a booklet, it is more an introduction to the topic rather than an in-depth analysis, but there are recommended resources at the end of the booklet for further reading if desired. I found it helpful and the tips about how to help were very practical and wise.

What Does the Bible Really Say About... Self Harm?

This is a concise and accessible book suitable for anyone dealing with or supporting someone affected by self harm. It speaks gospel truths practically and with sensitivity into a subject not often talked about. I would recommend this to anyone seeking insight, hope and healing from issues relating to self harm.

What Does the Bible Really Say About... Self Harm?

This book is short and to the point, but easily explains why people self harm and how God feels about it as well as how God can help. It would definitely be a use to people who are supporting a self harmer or those that do it themselves
