Time Travel to the Old Testament

In this book, Chris Sinkinson does a great job of bringing the reader to an understanding of the often far-off and alien world of the Old Testament. This book serves as both a basic overview of the story of the Old Testament, from creation to fall to redemption to new creation, and as a good survey of the background to the OT text - the peoples, languages, cultures, worldviews etc. As a keen archaeologist and Bible teacher, the author repeatedly explains contested OT passages in their contexts and supplies reasonable and intriguing suggestions that support the reliability and relevance of the OT for today. There are now quite a few passages that make sense to me in light of their context! I recommend this book for anyone to read and benefit from, especially those who want to understand the Old Testament on its own terms and get to grips with God's revelation before Jesus Christ.
