Fable re-tellings + Christian expositions

The Boy Who Shouted “Wolf!” But There Wasn’t A Wolf and Other Tales brings together more of Geoffrey Thomas’s short stories, each brimming with the big heartedness, warmth and homespun humour that he is known for.

From both the ancient and modern world, Geoffrey Thomas introduces a host of extraordinary characters in his fantastical tales based on Aesop’s fables: a slave escapes death in the lion’s den; a donkey and a dog compete for attention; the sun and the wind battle to see who’s stronger.

The stories included are:

1) Belling the Cat

2) The Boy who Shouted "Wolf!" But There Wasn't a Wolf

3) Androcles and the Lion

4) The Donkey and the Dachshund

5) The Cowardly Cat

6) The Battle Between the Sun and the East Wind

7) To Live as a Swan or a Peacock You Must be Born as a Swan or a Peacock

8) The Last Days of the Old Lion

9) The Donkey and the Statue

10) The Bundle of Sticks

Perfect for both Middle Grade and Young Adult readers and teeming with gospel truth and encouragement, Thomas’s stories are a delight. Ages 9 - 12.

A Book of Short Fables

I liked this book because most of the stories tell about someone doing the wrong thing and then in the moral it takes about why Jesus wouldn't do that and why we shouldn't either. These fables are also good for parents to read to their younger children. Elissa(9)

Fun stories

Reuben (aged 8) says: I enjoyed the stories in this book because they had lots of adventure and surprises, and were really fun. I liked how they compared to what Jesus did. My favourite story was "The Bundle of Sticks" because the teacher knew a lot about God. I'm now starting another book in the same series!
