We are all looking for significance and meaning in our lives. The world tells us that this comes from dreaming big, achieving personal success and making a big impact. But the Bible says that self-worth is found in knowing our Creator, and contentment is found in discovering his purpose for our lives.

This book reminds us that when we know Jesus, we are free from the world’s definition of success. We can listen to God’s word and direct our dreams towards the things that he says matter most, even if they are small and unimpressive in the world’s eyes.

Celebrate the dreams God has for us: serving others, investing in individuals and living faithfully. Although these things seem small, their impact will be bigger, and their rewards will be better, than anything we could dream for ourselves.

A small book that packs a punch

This is a very easy to read book that packs a big and important punch. Seth Lewis challenges the zeitgeist mantra that you can be what you want to be, succeed at whatever you put your mind to, change the world if you just believe in yourself and dream big. But, if we are all completely honest with ourselves, we know that it is this philosophy that causes that quiet but insidious voice in our heads that tells us we haven't become what we hoped or achieved the level of success we desired or gained any recognition for any difference we may or may not have made. And when we listen to that voice it waters the seeds of anxiety and worthlessness. This book is like a drink of refreshingly cold water after a trudge through a wilderness, or like a massive backpack being lifted off your shoulders. Lewis shows us that we are ordinary but known, loved and made in the image of God. He has a purpose for our lives - and He wants us to focus on the 'dreams' that won't make the headlines or get us blue-tick verified on social media, but will make a big difference to those who are blessed when we take our eyes off ourselves and look to the God who loves us. We don't need to be impressive; we just need to remember we are unconditionally loved by our creator.
