Let the life of Abraham enrich your faith
Abraham is a foundational figure in the history of the church. But he is at the same time profoundly human, raw and real. Isolated in an unbelieving world, his story shows what it means for the Lord to take hold of a sinner, privilege him with promises, use him in his service and sustain him to the end.
Given the current cultural dislocation of Christianity, the central thread of Abraham’s life is increasingly relevant. Ultimately, it speaks of a believer looking to a city with eternal foundations, and that story speaks powerfully to us as strangers and aliens in our world.
Selected Commendations:
"Jonathan helps us to see how God’s dealings with Abraham prepared for the coming of Jesus... He writes in a warm and pastoral manner as he seeks to help us understand God's word. It will deepen your knowledge and warm your heart."
Paul Mallard, Director for the West Midlands, FIEC
"A delightful mix of close attention to the Bible text and real life application to warm the heart and stir us to action. The clarity of writing and coherence of headings also make it very useful for preachers preparing a series on these rich chapters in Genesis. I highly commend this study."
Jeremy McQuoid, Teaching Pastor, Deeside Christian Fellowship, and Chair of Trustees, Keswick Ministries
"This book will be a help to any readers of Genesis, including preachers; it helps us approach the text responsibly and includes much helpful pastoral application. I found myself looking forward to picking it up every time!"
Alasdair Paine, Vicar, St Andrew the Great, Cambridge, UK
"This is biographical Bible exposition at its best. It is firmly rooted in scripture and geared to our contemporary world and experience. As you read, you will be nourished and spoken to, as I was. Who said biblical exposition is outdated?"
Ajith Fernando, Teaching Director, Youth for Christ, Sri Lanka Author, Discipling in a Multicultural World.
