Here is a commentary for those who would like to read and enjoy the book of Daniel.

The symbolism and apparently mysterious passages in the book have discouraged many from giving it serious study.

Stuart Olyott, in his lively yet thorough style, shows that the prophecy of Daniel is basically an easy book to understand. His aim is to excite the reader to read Daniel for himself.

The book of Daniel is full of practical help – especially for believers who find themselves standing alone in the classroom or at work, or among their family and friends. Daniel tells us how to remain true to God in a hostile environment, and shows us how to live for Him when everything is against us. Daniel dared to stand alone. So can we.

The Welwyn Commentary Series is the Bible simply explained. This popular well established series provides clear and concise insight into the Scriptures from respected authors, many of whom are pastors and Bible teachers. The series is ideal for personal study, Bible class and sermon preparation and is highly recommended.

Daniel

Here we have a well written and well researched commentary on the Book of Daniel. Stuart Olyott takes us through the first six chapters of narrative in the book. From the example of Daniel and his friends, he gives christians encouragement to stand firm in an environment, which is not friendly towards their faith. There then follows a chapter of 'intermission' before Olyott goes on to expound the later prophetical chapters of the book. Olyott handles these extremely well. He identifies the various characters represented, and carefully unpacks the various passages. It's good to see a sensible approach to these chapters. Therefore, this is a fine commentary on Daniel. It should open our understanding on a number of issues.
