Exploring 6 Characteristics of Waiting to Prompt Wisdom from God and Gain Invaluable Peace

Throughout our lives, we experience countless periods of waiting. Some moments are mere nuisances—others are daunting seasons filled with intense worry and doubt. We grow impatient by immovable traffic or crave an impending answer to a medical condition. Whatever our current circumstances, our innate response is to take action rather than stay still.

In Waiting Isn’t a Waste, author Mark Vroegop calls believers to resist the human urge for control and lean on Christ for comfort while we wait for the uncertainties of life to unfold. Vroegop explores what it means to wait on God through 6 important characteristics—waiting is hard, common, biblical, slow, commanded, and relational. This book not only teaches readers how to wait on God but inspires them to embrace waiting—for it prompts wisdom from God and brings invaluable peace to the present.

Waiting Isn't a Waste

Waiting is a fact of life - whether a supermarket queue, traffic jam, waiting for a birthday or more serious waiting for tests, diagnosis & answers to prayer. It is something I have always accepted and never considered I had any difficulties with. This book challenges us to look at waiting in a differerent way. In six easy to read chapters, Vroegop acknowledges waiting is common, hard & slow. He reminds us that it is Biblical & commanded in scripture. It is important to remember it is a corporate act with our fellow believers. Filled with biblical references we are challenged to consider why and how we wait, using the wait to grow us spiritual, draw us closer to God & wait on him. This is an easy to read book for individual reading and also lends itself to reading with others with helpful practical applications and questions. The title did not draw me to read the book as I just accepted waiting as normal and didnt really feel I had any real difficulties with it. I read the book for a reading group and found it encouraging & challenging. I am about to reread it (before passing to my husband!) & have already recommended it to others.
