A lovely book

This is such a lovely book, even though the subject is not so much. We all suffer in some way or other, some more than others, but maybe most people not as much as Joni. If you've not come across her then look her up and maybe read her biography. In Songs of Suffering Joni's great penmanship combines with encouraging devotions pointing us to Christ when we are struggling and to the hope found in God's Word. These devotions are combined with hymns and songs, written out and with sheet music. These are songs that frame each devotional and particularly point Joni to God. There are also beautiful photos throughout. Joni doesn't try to make out that we shouldn't suffer and doesn't try to minimize it, but shows how God meets her in the midst of suffering. It's a great book to dip into, to play along with or just to learn new hymns and use them to encourage you. It's written in a "coffee table" style. I'd highly recommend it.
