William Edgar (DTheol, University of Geneva) is professor of apologetics and John Boyer Chair of Evangelism and Culture at Westminster Theological Seminary. William lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Barbara. They have two children and three grandchildren.

Schaeffer on the Christian Life

William Edgar first met Francis Schaeffer at L'Abri in 1964, and so this is a sympathetic appraisal from a friend, although he is willing to disagree with him. The first third of the book is an overview of Schaeffer's life, which is very helpful at setting the context. The rest looks at Schaeffer's writings. Annoyingly the references are to volumes in the collected works, rather than individual books which makes working out where he said what difficult. However the book is still an excellent overview of Schaeffer's thought, although some of it is from his wife Edith.
