Gossip kills! That’s the shocking message of the destructive nature of gossip from the book of Proverbs. In his easy-to-read style, Paul Williams handles the book of Proverbs, and the subject of gossip, with both pastoral care and piercing precision.

The opening chapters demonstrate how delicious but deadly gossip is. Before exploring how to eradicate gossip from our lives, the middle chapters of the book go to the heart of the issue, exploring the addictive desires that fuel gossip in our lives. Having searched our hearts, readers will find themselves more prepared, and more able to engage with how to begin to stamp out gossip, in the latter chapters.

In helping us to explore the deceitfulness of our hearts, reminding us of grace, and calling us to turn away from gossip, this book will bring transformation to individuals and whole church families.

A very timely book

“Gossip Calypso”, Bernard Cribbins’ 1960’s hit single, was often played at home in my youth. It made gossip seem a bit of a laugh- anything but deadly. Paul Williams’ new book shows us the real truth from Proverbs. His chapters tell us how gossip destroys, is poisonous, will kill you, and is addictive. He then shows us how to put out the fire of gossip, and live a gossip-free life. I found this book personally convicting, and immensely practical. It is sobering to be reminded of how seriously Proverbs treats this sin that we all commit, but so often make light of. This book would also be a great resource for small group studies or book clubs.
