By emphasizing the role of the heart in the worship of self and substance, Welch forces the addict to face the grim reality that who or what he worships will control his life.As a pastor, biblical counselor, and a redeemed (not recovering) ex–heroin addict, I believe Dr. Welch has finally given every pastor, theologian, layman, and anyone caught in the bondage of idolatry/addiction a biblical road map to true and lasting freedom.

—Peter Garich, Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship, and Director of Dayspring Center for Biblical Counseling in San Diego, California

Addiction—A Banquet in the Grave is one of the most helpful books providing practical theology on addictions to come along to date. It provides, in a very direct manner, biblical strategies for the church to assist sinners in need of gospel first–aid. Vital reading for anyone in a leadership position in the church, it will be, especially, valuable to friends and family members desiring to help those struggling with addictions of all sorts.

—John Freeman Executive Director of HARVEST USA, Philadelphia
