A Scripture-Rich Call to Reorder Priorities

This is a strong, Scripture-saturated book that really challenges how we think about priorities as Christian women. Elizabeth George writes with clarity and conviction, consistently pointing back to God’s Word and what it looks like to pursue Him across every area of life. One of the most memorable takeaways for me was her idea of creating “Five Fat Files”—choosing a handful of areas to intentionally grow in and collecting resources, notes, and insights over time. It’s such a practical and motivating approach to spiritual and personal growth, and something I’ve genuinely found useful. The book does lean heavily toward the perspective of a married, stay-at-home mother, which made parts of it harder for me to fully connect with. That said, the underlying principles are still valuable and can be applied more broadly with a bit of thought. I especially appreciated how much Scripture is woven throughout. It gives the book a solid foundation and reinforces that the encouragement and instruction are rooted in the Bible rather than just personal opinion. Some readers may find its perspective counter-cultural, but that’s also part of its strength—it consistently calls women back to a biblical framework for life and priorities. While I don’t align with every emphasis, I find myself returning to this book at different times because of its lasting, practical wisdom. Overall, this is a thoughtful and challenging read that can work well for personal study, one-on-one discipleship, or group settings, especially for those looking to grow intentionally in their walk with the Lord.
