Enjoy Your Prayer Life

Exercising your faith

Michael Reeves

Quantity

Sadly, most of us struggle to set aside time to pray. But, fear not, this is not another book that will pile on the guilt, simply saying pray better and more often. Instead, Michael Reeves shows us not only why prayer is so essential, but also how we can enjoy it too.

Taking his cue from Calvin’s definition that prayer is ‘the chief exercise of faith,’ Reeves helps us understand that prayer should be a natural expression of our faith. Just as faith is awakened as we grasp the wonders of the gospel, so prayer follows as our hearts respond to these glorious truths.

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

Michael Reeves has mined deep into Puritan thought and written this short, but very helpful, book which cuts to the heart of the matter to encourage the reader to nourish their prayer life with the triune God. Reeves provides very valuable insights that I had never thought of before. An excellent resource to read over and over, and to pass on to fellow believers.

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

This is a wonderfully helpful little book. It’s not about how to pray but about what prayer is, and how we have such a wonderful relationship with God. It helped me to see what a wonderful privilege we have in prayer, and spurs the reader on to pray more. It is particularly encouraging for those who may struggle with prayer; Mr Reeves writes in a very gentle and encouraging way.

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

I’ve read many books on prayer. This one is the shortest but has impacted me more than any others. Michael Reeves starts with the definition of prayer as “the chief exercise of faith” but acknowledges our failure to pray as we are sinners. However, as we meditate on what God’s word says about the role of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in prayer we are encouraged and enabled to pray. By keeping it brief and readable, Michael Reeves has created a highly practical resource that prompts us to spend time with the Lord as soon as we’ve finished it.

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

We invested in buying this book for everyone in our church because it is so encouraging in its practical application and yet has a really strong, theological basis too. It’s a quick read and worth every minute, although you might also like to leave it out for a few weeks afterwards, returning to some of the more practical suggestions regularly until they feel embeded

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

A brilliant, short, practical book on prayer and the whys and hows.

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

Another great book from Michael Reeves. I ended up buying 100 more copies of this book to pass out to youth in our church and to our prayer ministry team and anyone else who wanted them. Highly recommended, and very easy to read. It’s length makes it perfect for those who find reading difficult

Enjoy Your Prayer Life

Most books on prayer focus on technique, and most Christians feel that they fail at prayer and feel guilt as a result. Reeves shows us that the key to prayer is to realise to whom we are praying: to the Father, through Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. The wisdom of Calvin (prayer is the chief exercise of faith) is distilled in this short book of 46 pages.

I used this book as part of a Spiritual retreat and it was very well received by all levels of maturity. I now include it as part of the 101 new member class curriculum. Another excellent resource by this publisher.
