Marty Machowski

Marty Machowski is a Family Life Pastor at Covenant Fellowship Church, a Sovereign Grace Ministries church in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, where he has served on the pastoral staff for twenty-four years. He is the author of the Gospel Story for Kids series including Long Story Short: Ten-Minute Devotions to Draw Your Family to God and the Gospel Story Curriculum. He and his wife Lois and their six children reside in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Long Story Short

This is hands down the best family devotion resource that I have come across. I have looked at a fair few over the years. If you are looking for a resource that requires no physical preparation, can be done in less than 10 minutes and is accessible to a 4 year old, yet beneficial to their parents – truth with out the superficial fluff. Sweet gospel truth, pointing to Jesus from OT (there is a NT companion). With 78 weeks. Each week has 5 days, and crucially the days are numbered (1–5) rather than named– which just makes it easier to keep track of it something is missed for whatever reason. The pattern is Days 1,2 the story (passage) for the week in digestible chunks, Day 3 – we look at how the passage for the week points to Jesus (in the OT – this how it points forward to Jesus often with a NT passage). Day 4 – back to the passage and Day 5 looks at the theme and how that relates to Jesus usually with a passage from Psalms or Prophets. If that was to long – just buy it – and use it – you won’t regret it!
