DumbRocks: Your Word CD

This is a great CD, some of the songs are clearly written for children and others for teenagers, but I was happily listening in (and maybe even singing along!) as I was driving down the road. The thing that I really like about this CD is that the songs are very clearly based on specific passages. Each track has a Bible reference with it that will help you engage the children and teens with what the meaning of the song and how it relates to the Bible. This would be a great addition to your car CD pile, but it would also be a great addition to Bible teaching in church or in holiday clubs.

DumbRocks: Your Word CD

When the Pharisees tried to suppress the enthusiastic praise of Jesus as he entered into Jerusalem as King, his response was simple: ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’ (Luke 19:40). The clearly stated intent of DumbRocks Music is to keep the rocks silent by encouraging all of God’s people to sing biblically rich truths, an aim which this album takes huge strides to achieve! The best way to describe Your Word is as an excellent album of genuinely all–age songs that adults will appreciate just as much as children. The lyrical simplicity is matched by a clear biblical richness which keeps drawing you back to meditate on God’s word as you invariably join in. Each song is very closely based on a different passage of scripture, providing helpful paraphrases of familiar quotations. Musically the tunes are both memorable and accessible enough for a congregation to immediately pick them up. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I listened to album and thought that I could realistically use every single track in a church service without any hesitation. Already our congregation has learned the title track ‘Your Word’ and the ode to grace ‘Don’t It Make You Wonder.’ The longevity and cross generational appeal of this album was clearly evident as we played it in the car on non–stop repeat during a recent holiday with three generations of our family. As a parent, it is a huge joy and privilege to be able to see your children praising the Lord with the same enthusiasm as you have. We are hugely thankful for the way that this album has served us and highly recommend it to you.
