‘This book deals beautifully with the fear of evangelism by enabling the reader to see that it’s possible to be on the “front foot” when sharing the gospel. His encouragement to keep our focus on what Jesus says as opposed to more abstract debating points is terrific… A really great read for anyone nervous about evangelism.’ ~ Graham Daniels, Christians in Sport

If we’re honest none of us find evangelism easy. We’re told we should do it, we might know that we should be doing it, but the reality is often too scary.

Paul Williams is realistic about our fear and guilt, but with gentleness he shows us that the key to banishing our fear isn’t complex and clever answers, but rather to take our friends to the person of Jesus.

He gives practical examples of how we can naturally and thoughtfully share how Jesus answers, and is the answer to commonly asked questions. Paul also shares how this simple model has led to greater confidence and joy in his own evangelism. This can be our joy too!

Intentional

This book is about being Intentional in your evangelism, and specifically about being intentional in taking people to Jesus! It is helpful in starting where many of us do start - with our nerves and worries of how our friends will respond. Paul is gentle as he encourages us in where we can take our courage from, and there are some really practical tips to help us not get bogged down in arguments but instead bring conversations back to Jesus.

This is a great book on talking about Jesus. The tip I will take away is to think what or how Jesus responded to similar questions, and to be not afraid to use the Bible in conversation. And the best way to learn to swim is to get in the water!

This short booklet is a very helpful and practical guide to evangelism, explaining both its importance and tackling some of the things that hold us back. Emphasising that evangelism must stem from a deep conviction that Christ’s gospel is true, and a compassion for those who do not know Him, Williams offers some clear practical advice on being prepared to share the gospel and how we might converse with others about Jesus. At only 100 pages this short booklet is well worth the short time it takes to read it.

Such a helpful and simple method for engaging with questions about the Christian faith. This book is simple without being shallow and as such I'd recommend it to any Christian who sometimes finds difficult questions...difficult.

This book is a real encouragement. It is a shot of adrenaline in an area we are so often paralysed by fear in. It is a book that keeps it simple, encourages perseverance, comes with refreshing honesty and real insight into how to engage, communicate and sharpen our evangelism. Paul writes with honesty and it is encouraging to read the ideas of someone who has thought long and hard about evangelism and has refined practices and endeavours through serious reflection. The big take always for me were, not being stumped by the same evangelistic question twice, that was a real wake up call. His three step approach of take People to Jesus, ask a searching question then take them to the cross is very memorable. I also liked his worked examples of common questions and the spiritual appreciation of the task before us. I don’t think Paul really says anything earth shatteringly new but writes compellingly, concisely and encouragingly about an area of life we all feel deficient in. I would recommend this book to everyone and will be stocking it on our church book stall as a great hope filled injection for us in our work of reaching lost people for Jesus.

Paul’s clear helpful and non threatening approach made it a refreshing and practical read. It has encouraged me to be more intentional (good title) in taking people to Jesus, taking the initiative and taking them to the cross. Buy 10 and give them away to the 10 most reticent evangelists you can find!

I’m going to commend this book to the church family at All Souls. Why? Because I love Paul Williams’ pastoral heart. When it comes to telling others about the Lord Jesus Christ, he knows people have fears and addresses those fears. I love his methodology. He insists the best answers come from the lips of Jesus and I love the fact he models reaching out to others.
