Living in the light of the Trinity

Sam Allberry

Quantity

God is Trinity. This is foundational and life–changing. Yet, bizarrely, for many believers, this is one of the least–examined aspects of the Christian life.

Sam Allberry takes us right to the heart of who God is, something which has radical implications for who we are as beings made in his image.

Connected unpacks the practical implications of the truth that God is Father, Son and Spirit. This transforms how we think of God and provides a vital perspective on key topics like:

  • Identity
  • Gender
  • Church life
  • Discipleship
  • Prayer

Could any issue be more important than this?

The Trinity should never be shrouded in mystery – or jargon. Follow in Sam’s footsteps and you will soon find yourself, like him, praising this awesome God who is Trinity.

For some, the Trinity is an abstract doctrine which does not really impact our day to day living. This view is mistaken and here Sam Allberry shows the reverse is true. Connected unpacks many practical implications of the truth that God is Father, Son and Spirit. This transforms how we think of God and provides a vital perspective on key topics like identity, gender, church life, discipleship, and prayer.

Sam Allberry is the master of writing that is accessible & assumes nothing, but deals with deep truths. Too often writers delight in making things more complex than they need to be, but others write in a manner which dumbs everything down and is patronizing. Connected explains, instructs, and inspires. I commend it as a fantastic resource for those wanting to understand why the doctrine of the Trinity is so important to us today.

The Trinity is an amazing truth: God is One but three persons. How much do we actually understand it? And how does it actually affect our lives? I found Sam Allberry's book so helpful in explaining what it means that God is a trinitarian God, and then in applying it to our identity, our marriages, our lives. Throughout the book Sam uses really helpful analogies and every chapter is very readable, but thought-provoking and encourages you to go away and read over certain passages and think over these truths in more depth. I like the way that the book isn't intended as a 'here's everything about the Trinity', but as a starting point for Christians to really engage with what is sometimes a difficult and off-putting topic, but essential to understanding more about our God and our lives in Him.
