When someone we love is suffering, we often don’t know what to say—or how to help.

In Being There, Dave Furman offers a wise and deeply personal guide to supporting others through trials, rooted in gospel truth and pastoral warmth. Having lived for years with a disabling nerve disorder, Dave knows firsthand the challenges of pain—and what faithful care can look like in the darkest moments.

This book is written for those who want to show up for others in ways that reflect Christ: with grace, patience, and steady presence. It’s not a how-to manual, but a call to walk alongside those who suffer—with courage and compassion.

Whether you're supporting a loved one with illness, grief, or ongoing hardship, Being There will help you point them gently to the hope found in Jesus.

Originally published by Crossway, this new edition features additional discussion questions.
