We are all going to die. But who feels prepared? In this brand new book, John Wyatt helps us tackle life’s most difficult challenge head on. Looking at recent trends in dying he examines the ‘art of dying’, a Christian tradition from the past. We see opportunities for dying well and faithfully, real–world examples of personal growth and instances of reconciliation and personal healing in relationships. On the other hand, there are also challenges to face: the fears and temptations that dying can bring.

Blending theology, humanity and pastoral care, this is a book for those who are facing death and who are wanting peace and security. It is also for their relatives, friends and carers – for those who need to care for and comfort someone.

Dying Well

I only picked this up because it was recommended, yet actually found it a real page-turner! Loved Rico's comment in the preface that it almost got him excited about his own death. It's essential reading: unless Jesus comes first we'll all have to go through death, and will have others around us facing it, so we should spend a bit of time thinking about it and even preparing for it. I was struck by the opportunities death brings, how dying well will follow on from living well, and how wonderful the Christian's hope it.
