Prayers Inspired by the Psalms Boxed Set

My wife got me this set for my birthday this year and it is excellent! These two books reword the Psalms into beautiful prayers using contemporary imagery that is relatable to our modern senses, just as the Psalms would have been for their original Hebrew readers and hearers. These are great for either inspiring your prayers, praying verbatim to God, or as another way of looking at and understanding the core meaning of a passage of Scripture in the Psalms – and each page even has a few Bible cross reference notes for you to go and look at in your Bible for further devotion & understanding. All in all, a great set! My only gripe, and very much a little gripe as the book itself is incredible inside and out, is that the cover the books are bound in feels a little cheap and not truly hardback, and the slipcase it comes in is a little flimsy too as it is only card rather than a proper hard case – my only worry with this is that this set is intended to be used again and again in daily devotion and might sustain some damage over time. I would suggest future versions of this set should be bound in a more hard–wearing cover, maybe as a special edition similarly to the way Crossway have re–released Gentle & Lowly in a Trutone ‘leather’ cover. But that aside, you should buy this set for your daily devotions with the Lord!
