Fresh insight to a much loved and well known Psalm
It is one of the most famous passages in the Bible and yet, I realise that despite knowing this psalm since childhood, there are many treasures I have overlooked.
The psalm is only six verses long, but Gibson shares so much of the beauty, hope and comfort contained in this psalm that I have never before fully appreciated.
It was so encouraging that I think I'm going to start it all over again!

An Encouraging Journey with our Shepherd
Gibson brings a really comforting and thought-provoking look on the famous Psalm 23. It reminds us who we are, who the Shepherd is we follow and the final destination if we stay walking the path with Him; exploring how the Psalm really is a beautiful reminder of the Gospel. An encouraging read, whether you've been walking with your Shepherd for many years or just a short time.

What a beautiful read
David Gibson has a rare gentleness in his writing that somehow doesn’t lose the weightiness and conviction of what he’s explaining. His delight comes through, and makes the Psalm feel like a fresh new discovery. Finished the book more thankful for our Good Shepherd than I was when I started.

Comforting and thought-provoking
One of my favourite recent reads. David Gibson unpacks this well-known Psalm with freshness and depth, while remaining highly readable and sticks to the path well. He is very focused on Psalm 23 and references elsewhere are always thoughtful, insightful and useful, rather than a detour for the sake of it. Particularly enjoyed the section about what it means for the shepherd to lead his sheep with "rod and staff". I enjoyed so much I bought two more copies as gifts.

Wonderful
Just incredible. Wow. ‘The Lord of Psalm 23’ is an exposition of Psalm 23 over the course of a book. This means the detail is extensive and really adds to why this book is so incredible. (And obviously this book is amazing ultimately because God’s Word is amazing, so time spent delving into it is always time spent well.)
So many sentences stood out to me and I had many moments when something *clicked* - whether it was a reminder of a biblical truth I especially needed to hear, or something new I learned about God, His Word, Psalm 23.
Thank you, David Gibson, to the glory of God, for a faithfully written book focused entirely on the Word of God.

A beautiful gift
Psalm 23 may be one of, if not the, most famous psalm, yet David Gibson brings a freshness, highlighting some profound insights we may have overlooked.
The six verses of the psalm are split into three parts: the Sheep and the Shepherd, the Traveller and the Companion, the Guest and the Host. My church has recently been studying Exodus and so I was particularly struck by how Gibson brings out the Exodus undertones in the psalm. He beautifully shepherds us through the verses on our journey to see Christ more clearly.
This appealing hardback, cloth-bound edition would be the ideal gift, for yourself or to give away.

Unmissable
I bought this at the Keswick Convention, slightly doubting whether it would really offer new insights into a familiar psalm, as was promised when it was reviewed on stage. I was gripped by this book and will return to it again and again, it is well-written, easy to read and explains so clearly beautiful truths about this psalm that I hadn't heard or read before, ones that you want to linger in your thoughts for as long as possible. I would rate this book as unmissable and I wouldn't say that about many books!

Read slowly!
This is a great little book to read slowly. 184 pages on six verses might seem like a much, but there is treasure in these hills. I found it very helpful to slow down and dwell on the detail of this Psalm over several weeks. I've recommended it widely and know others have found it helpful too.
